Mario Corea Arquitectura is a professional architect's office with more than 30 years of experience devoted to the project and technical building management of health care and educational buildings, sports facilities, dwellings and urban design projects in Catalonia, Spain and South America.

Mario Corea

Mario Corea Aiello was born in Rosario in 1939. In 1962 he graduated from the School of Architecture in the National University of Litoral in Rosario; he then, moved to Boston where in 1964 got the degree of Master of Architecture in Urban Design. In Cambridge, the architect was a contributor in Sert, Jackson and Associates studio from 1962 to 1965, and during the two following years he collaborated with Desmond and Lord studio and Paul Rudolph’s studio. In 1968 he started his academic career in the Design, Planning and Architecture Faculty of the University of Rosario and during the same year he started “Arquitectos Asociados” in the same city. In 1970, he received a diploma in Urban Studies of the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London.

In 1976, he emigrated from the country again, and Sert offered him to work in Barcelona. From 1976 to 2007 he worked as a professor in Superior Technical School of Architecture of Vallès from the Catalonian Polytechnic University. In Barcelona, Corea formed his studio with Architect Edgardo Mannini (1981-1991) and Architect Francisco Gallardo (1981-1997). From 1997 to 2000 he established Mario Corea Architecture. In 2000 he started Corea-Moran Architecture with Lluis Moran (2000-2010). In 2010 he received the A+ award to his career and the designation of Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architecture. In 2011, the General Hospital of Mollet is nominated for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe – and Mario was awarded the Architecture prize for his international professional career by XIII Biennial in Buenos Aires.

The architect is currently developing both his professional practice in Mario Corea Architecture studio as his academic career giving lectures, workshops and seminars in Europe, Asia, USA and Argentina.
